Pub's plan for caravan in its grounds refused by Lake District planners
['Imogen Barber']
The Westmorland Gazette | News
The plan for one of Troutbeck’s best‑known pubs has been denied by the Lake District National Park Authority.
Despite this, planning officers raised concerns about whether the land in question forms part of the same planning unit as the hotel.
The officer’s report states: "I do however disagree that the site in question falls within the same planning unit as the hotel use of the Mortal Man Inn.
"While I don’t doubt that the ownership is the same, ownership does not equate automatically to a single planning unit.
The report also notes that evidence suggests the land is open agricultural land, not currently used as part of the hotel operations.
