A Fresh Meadows man was charged with hate crimes for destroying property outside of a Jewish-owned bagel shop that displayed Israeli flags on two separate occasions in May.
Faisal allegedly sped through two red lights and collided with two cars, one of which was propelled into a crosswalk where it struck Trager and her husband.
The investigation was conducted by Detective Patrick Lynaugh of the NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force in partnership with the District Attorney’s Hate Crimes Bureau.
If he is convicted in the hate crimes case, Faisal faces up to seven years in prison.
“I thank my dedicated Hate Crimes Bureau which is committed exclusively to preventing, investigating and prosecuting hate crimes, for this work on this case,” Katz said.
