Hundreds of fitness enthusiasts flocked to Long Island City Saturday for the neighborhood’s second-annual Wellness Fest, which transformed an entire block into an “outdoor wellness destination.”
The event seeks to bring fitness instructors, practitioners, local businesses, organizations, and community members together for a “high-energy day designed to make health and wellness accessible to everyone.”
Rodney “Hurricane” Carter Jr., founder of Hurricane Fitness and LIC Wellness Fest, said the event aims to build community and encourage an active lifestyle.
The Wellness Fest aims to offer New Yorkers a chance to connect through fitness, with a number of challenges and live music taking place throughout the day.
LIC Wellness Fest also provided local fitness studios, gyms and small businesses with an opportunity to introduce their services to local residents.
