Police from the 110th Precinct are looking for a hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a woman near LeFrak City in Corona on the night of Saturday, Aug. 1. The driver sped off northbound on 99th Street toward Corona Avenue. Police from the 110th Precinct responded to a 911 call of a pedestrian struck at the location and found the woman lying on the roadway. There are no arrests and the investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad remains ongoing. Through July 26, the 110th Precinct has reported three traffic fatalities so far in 2026, one more than the two reported at the same point last year, an increase of 50%, according to the most recent CompStat report.
