Officers were called out shortly after 9pm on Thursday, July 30, to Liverpool Road, in St Helens. Residents reported seeing a road closure in the area and a police helicopter was seen circling nearby. Officers had received a report that a man had been chased into a takeaway premises by a group, who were possibly armed with weapons. After the arrests, Merseyside Police spokeswoman said: "At around 9.10pm last night, Thursday July 30, we received a report that a male had been chased into a takeaway on Liverpool Road by a group of youths who were possibly armed with weapons. "Following inquiries, we arrested a 16-year-old male from Liverpool on suspicion of possession of a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place and affray; an 18 year-old man from Rainhill on suspicion of affray and 26 year-old man from St Helens on suspicion of affray.
