Multi-strategy hedge fund major Balyasny Capital Management and New York-based quant SquarePoint Capital have both tapped the talent pool at Google DeepMind as they look to bolster their AI capabilities, according to a report by eFinancial Careers. Su Wang, formerly a Researcher at DeepMind, has been recruited by Balyasny as a senior research engineer. Wang spent a year at DeepMind, following three years of AI research at Google, DeepMind’s parent company. Squarepoint Capital, meanwhile, has hired Google DeepMind Staff Research Engineer Grégoire Delétang as Quantitative Researcher based in London to focus on large-scale deep learning. Balyasny’s AI efforts are centred around its BAM ChatGPT, described as an “AI equivalent of a senior analyst,” which was made available to employees over a year ago.
