Rhode Island voters have one week to register or update their party affiliation ahead of the September 9 statewide primary, Secretary of State Gregg M. Amore reminded voters Monday. The deadline to register to vote and the deadline to disaffiliate from a current party are both August 10. Voters who are registered with one party but want to vote in another party’s primary must disaffiliate by that date. Unaffiliated voters who participate in a party primary will automatically remain unaffiliated afterward — no additional steps required. The deadline to request a mail ballot for the primary is 4 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19.
