The Xcel Energy power outage map reported that over 2,000 customers in Breckenridge were experiencing a power outage from 2:21 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3, according to Xcel spokesperson Michelle Aguayo.
Aguayo wrote in an email that the outage happened because Xcel’s system was set to wildfire safety settings.
When those settings are active, crews must investigate the impacted power line that triggered the shutoff before power can be restored.
Aguayo wrote that crews found a faulty cable in their inspection.
“We appreciate our customers’ patience as our crews worked as quickly as possible to safely restore power,” Aguayo wrote.
