Magnitude 3.5 Earthquake Recorded Near Antigua and Barbuda

A preliminary magnitude 3.5 earthquake was recorded at 4:57 p.m. local time on Monday, according to the UWI Seismic Research Centre (SRC).
The automatic report places the quake’s epicentre at 16.70°N, 61.51°W, approximately 59 kilometres southeast of St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda, at a depth of 11 kilometres.
The earthquake was also located about 50 kilometres north of Point-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe, and 78 kilometres east of Brades, Montserrat.
The UWI SRC noted that the location and magnitude were automatically calculated by computer algorithms and remain preliminary, meaning they could be revised following analysis by seismologists.
