The 19-year-old American won both MXW motos to complete a perfect Australian campaign: eight races, eight victories and the maximum 200 championship points. The emotional weight of the occasion made for a difficult opening moto, but Waters regrouped to finish 10th in the second race. It was the first 1-1 Grand Prix result of McLellan’s career and moved him to 608 championship points. Her second moto ended during the opening stages, and she was classified 25th, leaving her 22nd overall for the weekend. The MX2 position has gone to 18-year-old Salvador Perez, who currently leads the Brazilian MX2 Championship.
