Court commits Namiwa’s treason case to High Court

Namiwa is being accused of committing the two offences during an interview with Luntha television station in July, 2026.
Chief Resident Magistrate Austin Banda has committed Namiwa’s case to the High Court of Malawi for further court proceedings and bail to be granted.
Kamphangala said Namiwa is one of the foot soldiers who fought courageously sacrificing his life to die for change of the country’s leadership from Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.
He said had it been that President Professor Mutharika invited all the foot soldiers to one place thanking them for the support rendered for him to bounce back into government, circumstances surrounding Namiwa’s arrest could not happen.OPINION: Namiwa Cried!
Kamphangala has appealed to President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika to meet these foot soldiers and hear their cries assuring him that these people are sailing through pain and some of them are even struggling to get money for mobile phones data bundles.
