PDP, UDF and UTM Condemn Treason Charge Against Sylvester Namiwa, Demand Respect for Constitutional Rights

They stressed that safeguarding freedom of expression is essential to protecting Malawi’s democratic order and constitutional governance.
They said adherence to due process and the rule of law is critical in maintaining public confidence in the country’s justice system.
Dalitso KabambeThe three parties also warned that the handling of politically sensitive cases carries significant implications for democracy, civil liberties, and public trust in state institutions.
They urged authorities to ensure that the enforcement of the law does not undermine constitutionally protected freedoms.
