Maryland lawmakers split on redistricting amendment

It didn’t take long before a partisan divide emerged as Maryland state lawmakers convened a special legislative session Monday over a constitutional amendment for redistricting.
One amendment that was added would expedite the process if the measure advances.
It simply says the amendment will go straight to the ballot,” said Delegate Kris Fair, D-District 3.
They have plans to do several in 2027 and 2028, and we’re being asked to do reform here only in Maryland,” said Delegate David Moon, D-District 20.
