The available rental outfielder and defensive wizard named after Darren Daulton will not be filling the expansive center field gap at Citizens Bank Park - unless the Houston Astros visit the Philadelphia Phillies. Daulton Varsho, an ideal target for the Phillies prior to the wild Monday morning machinations that sent Luis Arraez to second base and Bryce Harper to the outfield, will instead land in Houston. The Astros paid handsomely for his unique set of skill, sending controllable pitcher Spencer Arrighetti to Toronto. The Jays were connected to numerous outfield options, from Jo Adell to Lars Nootbaar, and instead decided to go internal in the strangest way possible. For now, though, it feels like the Phillies could've disrupted things less dramatically and figured out an outfield fit instead of shuffling so drastically.
