The rally included remarks by Local 332 members and leaders, members and leaders from the Genesee, Lapeer & Shiawassee Building Trades Council, and Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson. “We were rallying people to stoke support for the RNs who are out there,” said Dan Glass, Local 332 president. “The strike is going fine but we’re not getting any movement from Henry Ford right now.”Glass said the striking nurses have received “overwhelming support” from the community since taking to the picket line Sept. 1. They gave us a wage proposal that we’re fine with.”However, union members also want Henry Ford to honor the current contract language regarding overtime and holiday pay. Glass said management wants the union to go with the benefits Henry Ford offers its nonunion employees at other locations.
