— The fate of Genesee Valley Center mall is still yet to be decided but county commissioner Dale Weighill, who represents the eighth district, says that he and other commissioners have taken an interest in the property. He said the nine members of the county commission met in study sessions during the spring and summer to brainstorm priorities for the county. There are about five to six topics.”He added that he and the commissioners have explicitly listed Genesee Valley Center and that the township and residents obviously have concerns about the property. “One of the items under there that we have interest in is Genesee Valley Mall.”He added that even though the mall geographically falls within his district, District 1 commissioner Dr. Beverly Brown and District 2 commissioner Charles Winfrey are interested. Weighill said Vanderpool spoke about what the city was doing with Lakeside Mall, which is basically a mixed-use space.
