Louisiana Just Required Insurance to Cover Something That Could Save New Mothers’ Lives
[]
Live Insurance News
Starting January 1, 2027, Louisiana insurers are legally required to cover someone coming to the house to look for exactly those things.
Under the law, every insurance policy covering childbirth must include coverage for home visiting services for families with newborns.
What This Means for Louisiana Insurance PolicyholdersUntil now, most private insurance policies in Louisiana did not cover home visiting services after birth.
If you have a baby on or after January 1, 2027, and carry a Louisiana-regulated health insurance policy, home visiting services are a covered benefit.
If coverage is denied, the denial can be challenged through the Louisiana Department of Insurance.
