Spain’s National Intelligence Center (CNI) reportedly warned the Interior Ministry several times about the risk of a mass migrant crossing from Morocco before more than 40,000 people entered Spanish-occupied Ceuta, according to Cadena SER reports on Monday. Security sources told the broadcaster that the CNI identified a growing threat but could not predict when the crossings would begin. They accused the Interior Ministry of overlooking the warnings and leaving the Ceuta border without enough personnel and equipment. The security sources told Cadena SER they viewed the July 8 Supreme Court ruling as a key factor behind the surge. The ministry rejected the account and said it did not receive a warning from CNI about an operation on the scale of the July 30 crossings.
