Two days after the incident occurred, the victim/complainant and the accused officer reportedly came to a private settlement. According to a copy of a ‘Declaration,’ dated August 2, signed by the two parties, the accused officer, Blesto Zhimo tendered apology, which was accepted by the victim. He tendered “sincere apology” and sought forgiveness from the victim, Khruvota and his family for threatening the latter with a weapon on July 31. The FIR and subsequent private compromise stemmed from a parcel delivery dispute on July 31 at Naga United village, Chümoukedima.
