It’s being reported this morning that the state of Israel, specifically Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu’s office, has serious security concerns on President Trump’s deal for Hamas to disarm in the Gaza Strip. Doron Spielman, a Netanyahu spokesperson, told The Associated Press that these concerns were shared with the White House after Trump first announced the agreement. He said that Hamas remained committed to rebuilding its military, prompting the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to not withdraw from Gaza before any disarmament. Trump did say the other day that this is complicated, and so I think Israel’s concerns are likely extremely valid. But I’m sure Trump knows all of this and will ensure that Hamas definitely disarms, as they’ve supposedly agreed to do.
