A 22-year-old man fatally shot in downtown St. Paul last week was trying to help a woman being assaulted just before he was killed, according to his mother. Maier-Aguilar received a call that her son had arrived at Regions Hospital with gunshot wounds. As of Monday night, police have not announced any arrests, and the case remains an ongoing investigation, St. Paul police spokeswoman Alyssa Arcand said. But Tyree Jordan said he was starting to reconnect with his son after he turned 18. Tyree Jordan said he remained confused about what led to the shooting.
