Vijayawada:Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed the officials to focus more on ensuring supply of potable water to the people across districts. Naidu chaired a high-level review meeting with senior officials on the functioning of several departments, at RTGS centre in the Secretariat here on Monday. He wanted the officials to pay more attention to deal with the water scarcity due to the El Nino effect, directed them to assess the deficit rainfall and availability of water in the reservoirs in order to ensure supply of potable water so as to avoid a water shortage. The officials informed the CM that, with rainfall in the upstream of Krishna basin, there could be a better chance to get more water. As for potable water in municipalities and rural areas, he directed the officials to conduct the tests on the water to check suitability for drinking and release the lab test reports on a regular basis.
