Health minister Satya Kumar Yadav has called for an audit on idle PSA (pressure swing absorption) plants purchased at a cost of `105 crore and also high range purchase of liquid medical oxygen (LMO) in the government hospitals during the Covid-19.
The minister held a review meeting with the senior officials at Mangalagiri in Guntur district on Monday.
The hospitals purchased LMO worth `95.43 crore during 2020-21 and 2021-22 when there was intense prevalence of Covid-19 and purchases worth `60.51 crore were done during 2016-20.
Between 2022-26, LMO worth `180.82 crore was purchased.
Referring to the requirement of `6.7 crore for repair and maintenance of PSA plants and 161 of them out of 162 becoming unused, he asked officials to justify the huge amount being spent on their maintenance.
