NALGONDA: Twenty-two students of a private school hostel at Nakrekal in this district fell ill after consuming allegedly contaminated food on Monday. Unhygienic food was being served in the hostel and the students who raised complaints were targeted by the hostel warden, they said. K. Varalakshmi, mother of a student from Palem, said the school was serving unhygienic food despite collecting substantial fees from students. BRSV state general secretary B Nagarjuna alleged that similar food poisoning incidents had occurred earlier too at the hostel. He demanded that the food safety department inspect the hostel kitchen, mess and food stocks.
