A number of fundraising events for the RNLI have taken place recently, and more are planned in the coming weeks. And the volunteers who continue to help raise much needed funds have offered a special word of thanks to the Donegal public for continuing to support their efforts. “Huge credit must also go to the lifesaving crews who continue to work tirelessly saving lives along our coastlines,” a spokesperson said. Among the groups helping to support the RNLI Lifeboats are the Gartan Open Water Swimmers who host a Crab Crawl each Wednesday evening at Portnablagh, raising funds for the RNLI and Sheephaven Sub Aqua Search and Recovery unit. The following Saturday, August 22, a Sheephaven Point to Pier Challenge Swim takes place.
