Speaking during a new interview with Apple Music, Dacus said part of the reason she had chosen to cover ‘Clay Pigeons’ was because it left “a huge impression on me” the first time she heard it. Dacus, who released her fourth studio album, Forever is a Feeling, last year, continued by speculating on the meaning of the song. Despite this, she implored those who may discover Foley’s music through her new work to dig deeper into his back catalogue. More recently in terms of her own music, Dacus released the single ‘Planting Tomatoes’, which was originally made available as an exclusive for Record Store Day.
