The MCU lucked out with David JonssonI love David Jonsson’s face. Like Garbo, Brando, Sandra Hüller, and Tony Leung, Jonsson has a face that is enthralling and mercurial. The first is Raine Allen-Miller’s 2023 Brixton-set romantic comedy, Rye Lane, which was Jonsson’s feature debut. As Dom, Jonsson is sweetly mopey and benignly passive, a romantic who might be a bit too sincere for Yas’s devastating sarcasm but whose thoughtfulness will win her over in the end. If Jonsson had to get roped into the MCU, at least it’s with Ryan Coogler, one of the great blockbuster auteurs of 21st-century Hollywood.
