The Nigerian army has deployed a fresh contingent of 86 troops to the ECOWAS Stabilization Support Mission in Guinea-Bissau (ESSMGB) to reinforce regional peacekeeping efforts. The soldiers departed Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Saturday aboard a Nigerian Air Force aircraft, which arrived safely in Guinea-Bissau, where the contingent will begin operations under the ECOWAS mandate. Before their departure from the Nigerian Army Peacekeeping Forward Operating Base in Abuja, the Chief of Operations (Army), Major General M.L.D. Saraso, represented by the Director of Peace Support Operations, Brigadier General M.M. The Army said the deployment reflects Nigeria’s longstanding commitment to regional peacekeeping and stability through ECOWAS operations.
