Christina Paxson announced Monday that she will step down from Brown University’s presidency at the conclusion of the 2026-27 academic year. Her 15-year tenure saw the university through a pandemic, federal funding threats, and a deadly campus shooting, and when she leaves her post, she will have served longer than any other current Ivy League president, according to The Brown Daily Herald. Brown settled that dispute with the Trump administration in July 2025, restoring more than $510 million in withheld federal contracts and grants. Chancellor Brian Moynihan, a 1981 Brown graduate and CEO of Bank of America, praised Paxson’s academic and operational excellence. The Brown Corporation, the university’s governing body, will launch a national search for her successor.
