A.M. Best revises Nissan captive rating outlooksA.M. Best has revised the outlooks on Nissan Global Reinsurance, the automaker’s Bermuda-based single-parent captive insurer, to negative from stable, citing ongoing pressure on parent Nissan Motor from global economic conditions and U.S. tariffs. The ratings agency said Friday it affirmed Nissan Global Reinsurance’s A- (Excellent) financial strength rating and “a-” long-term issuer credit rating. The captive remains an integral part of Nissan’s business plan and risk management framework and continues to receive parental support, Best said. The captive’s balance sheet strength remains supported by risk-adjusted capitalization at the strongest level, as measured by Best’s Capital Adequacy Ratio. Nissan Global Reinsurance provides a range of coverages for Nissan in the U.S. and internationally, including extended service contracts, product liability and inland marine insurance.
