Ann Williams has owned the Cuckoo’s Nest Antique Shop for nearly a decade right on the line of McCaysville, Georgia in Fannin County and Copperhill, Tennessee in Polk County. The two small towns combine into one community along the river that defines the Copper Basin, called the Ocoee on the Tennessee side and the Toccoa on the Georgia side. However, the Copper Basin is now recovering after a significant flash flood Saturday night, its worst flood since 1990. Water will continue to be given out Tuesday across the Copper Basin as utility companies continue repairs. McCaysville will hold an emergency city council at Tuesday at noon over Zoom to talk about recovery steps.
