The San Diego Padres have made a big move to improve their starting pitching. According to the San Diego Union-Tribune's Kevin Acee, the Padres have acquired pitcher Casey Mize and infielder Gage Workman from the Detroit Tigers in exchange for pitchers Kash Mayfield and Jackson Wolf. They needed another impactful starting pitcher as they aim to get into the playoffs, and acquiring Mize from the Tigers has now given them just that. Mize appeared in 16 games this season with the Tigers before this trade, where he had a 4-6 record, a 2.70 ERA, and 85 strikeouts. This is after he posted a 14-6 record, a 3.87 ERA, and 139 strikeouts as an All-Star during this past season.
