Mel Kershaw from Fitton Hill began volunteering with Local Food First CIC a year ago after the loss of her mother. She now helps lead food-growing volunteer sessions twice a week and supports the packing of the Community Vegbag for the community. The award, which includes a £50 shopping voucher, was presented by FCHO’s neighbourhood coordinator Imran Ahmed. Based at the Wildbrook Community Food and Growing Hub on Wildbrook Crescent, Local Food First CIC works to improve access to affordable, healthy food across Greater Manchester. The organisation runs a local veg bag scheme, outdoor educational sessions and volunteer gardening days to support the community.
