PYE’S plans to plant a foot firmly in the Common Market under the blue Italian sky follow a lead already made by a number of British firms in electronics. So, 66 years ago, started a story in Electronics Weekly’s edition of October 12th 1960The story continued:On his return from Italy last week, where Pye have bought a factory near Milan, Mr. C. O Stanley. Pye’s indefatigable chairman, had a few trenchant things say about Britain’s credit squeeze. Mr. Stanley painted a gloomy picture of business in Britain under the present credit restrictions. With manufacturers cutting back on production because of falling demand, the home market was becoming unprofitable.
