On August 3, 1975, a major milestone in Santa Clarita Valley history was reached: Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital officially opened, beginning operations with just 100 beds, including intensive care and coronary units.
Fundraising efforts, led by a citizens’ committee that evolved into the hospital’s Board of Trustees, brought together donations from Newhall Land executives and the Newhall family.
But it all began on August 3, 1975—a date that marks the beginning of a lasting commitment to healthcare in the Santa Clarita Valley.
