Taiz – The Yemeni army announced Monday that several Houthi fighters were killed and wounded after government artillery targeted a military vehicle belonging to the group, as clashes intensified in the southwestern province of Taiz. The 35th Armored Brigade said in a statement that its forces struck the Houthi patrol while militants attempted to infiltrate the Al‑Saila area, south of the Al‑Salu road in southeastern Taiz. Separately, the Media Center of the Taiz Military Axis reported the death of soldier Noufal Awad during fighting in the Al‑Ahtoub front in Jabal Habashi district, west of the province. The statement praised him for “sacrificing his life in defense of Taiz’s dignity.” The incidents highlight the ongoing military escalation between government forces and Houthi fighters in Taiz, a key battleground in Yemen’s protracted conflict.
