A woman was killed when her SUV was hit by another that hadn't stopped at a stop sign on Route 1 in Gouldsboro, Maine, on Sunday evening, police said. Heather Allen, a 39-year-old Ellsworth resident, died at the scene of the crash when her Chevrolet Trailblazer was hit by a Subaru Crosstrek that didn't stop as it headed north on Old Route 1 about 6:55 p.m., according to Maine State Police. The crash closed Route 1 for several hours, police said, and it remained under investigation on Monday. Gouldsboro is a town in Down East Maine across Frenchman Bay from Bar Harbor.
