Pittsfield Township residents will have their first formal opportunity to comment on proposed data center regulations during a public hearing Thursday. The Planning Commission will meet at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 6 at the Pittsfield Township Administration Building, 6201 W. Michigan Ave., to consider zoning amendments that would allow data centers in specific districts and establish definitions and use regulations. The proposed ordinance follows months of work that included a township moratorium, a public survey and revisions to the draft. Township officials have said the regulations are intended to address water use, energy demand, noise, infrastructure and neighborhood impacts before any data center proposals are submitted. Questions also may be directed to the township Planning Department before the meeting.
