Aug. 4: The Rockies have indeed announced a new two-year deal with Moniak, covering the 2027-28 seasons. 7:41pm: The Rockies and outfielder Mickey Moniak are working on a two-year extension, reports Thomas Harding of MLB.com. Moniak is playing on a $4MM salary and is already under arbitration control for 2027, so a two-year deal would cover his first year of free agent eligibility. The Rockies quickly stepped up to sign Moniak to a one-year, $1.25MM deal, and he has since become a reliable member of Colorado’s lineup. As noted earlier, there’s nothing stopping the Rockies from continuing to shop Moniak in trade talks even after his extension is finalized.
