The GMB union believes thousands of Kirklees Council workers may have an equal pay claim, with more than 500 employees already taking part in the claim.
The dispute centres on differences in pay between refuse workers and roles predominantly held by women, such as teaching assistants, catering staff, and care workers.
Tristan Chard, GMB organiser, said: "More than 500 workers have already joined our collective claim, but we believe hundreds more could still be eligible.
"We’re urging anyone who may be affected to come forward, check their eligibility and join the campaign."
