63-year-old Andrew Dart from Birstall, known locally as the Birstall Bee Man, discovered the charred remains of his hives in Birstall at around 4pm on Wednesday, July 29. The blaze killed an estimated 200,000 bees, £2,500 worth of beekeeping equipment, and an entire season’s worth of honey - at an estimated value of around £1,000.
