The funding will come from the £1 million Pounds for Ponds initiative led by the South Downs National Park Trust and conservation charity Froglife. A council spokesman said: “The dew pond has dried out during most summers in recent years. Located just north of Lancing and within the South Downs National Park, the 46.85-acre Lancing Ring nature reserve is a beloved walking spot for locals and their dogs. It is currently managed by Adur District Council and The Friends of Lancing Ring who work collaboratively to maintain the landscape. The council has plans to build a separate, smaller pond for dogs to enjoy without disrupting the wildlife of the dew pond.
