The facility, on Hurst Road in Horsham, will support Horsham District Council’s expanded fleet of collection vehicles, introduced as part of its district-wide food waste recycling service. The depot includes a vehicle workshop, inspection pit and staff amenities. Councillor David Skipp, cabinet member for environment, recycling and waste, said: "I am delighted to see the depot ready to welcome staff and fully operational as a dedicated workshop for our collection fleet. "Since launching separate food waste collections in March, we have already collected more than 1,000 tonnes of food waste. "Recycling food waste helps reduce the amount of rubbish sent for disposal, cuts greenhouse gas emissions and allows valuable resources to be reused.
