This is thanks to a growing network of pharmacies delivering NHS services on the high street. Between April 2025 and March 2026, pharmacies carried out more than 140,000 contraception consultations, making it easier than ever to get same-day care and advice closer to home. Inderjit Sanghera, Chief Regional Pharmacist for NHS England South East, said: "It is fantastic to see so many pharmacies across the South East committed to improving access to contraception and giving women greater choice and flexibility in how they manage their health. Under the scheme, women can receive free oral contraception following a confidential consultation with a pharmacist or trained pharmacy technician. Women can find a participating pharmacy using the NHS website’s pharmacy finder tool.
