"We are closing every asylum hotel and moving asylum seekers into basic accommodation including ex-military sites."
The Home Office said the cost per person per night at Crowborough was lower than the equivalent cost in a hotel.
The committee's figures were based on national accommodation costs and were not specific to the Crowborough site - the committee's findings drew on evidence examined during its inquiry into the asylum accommodation system.
The case forms part of an ongoing legal challenge by Crowborough Shield over the decision to house up to 540 single male asylum seekers at the site.
The group is asking the court to declare the government's authorisation of the accommodation unlawful and to quash the decision.
