I just generated an image, in the style of a Monet painting, using AI. Have a look, and think about what makes this image inferior to a real Monet painting. The image is a real Monet. They took a real (much-loved) Monet painting, pretended it was an AI-generated image, and then gauged the reaction. So when 6.8 million people saw an image of a real Monet painting but thought it was AI-generated, they immediately called it slop.
