Screen NSW has confirmed the 85 recipients for its inaugural Crew Development Program, a $1 million initiative aimed at addressing the national skilled-crew shortage and building pathways into below-the-line roles for entry-level and mid-career practitioners. Through industry consultation, Screen NSW identified production accounts, location department, production management, post-production supervision, costume department and art department as the areas of greatest need for the pilot program. Of the 85 recipients who completed training, 12 will now progress to paid production placements and mentorship. Screen NSW executive director Kylie Munnich said the program addressed a genuine gap in the industry’s below-the-line workforce. “I congratulate every recipient and look forward to seeing the valuable contributions they will make to the screen industry into the future.
