Penrith Council will move ahead with the consolidation of the Strauss Road Childcare Centre in St Clair despite community concern. In May this year families who sent their children to the Council operated centre received notice from Council announcing its intention to close the centre. “Strauss Road Children’s Centre is a long-standing 40-place long day care service offering care for children aged 0 to six years,” the Council report said. “Consultation feedback highlighted strong emotional attachment to the homely feel of Strauss Road and logistical convenience for some families,” the Council report said. There is no indication on what will happen to the Strauss Road site in the future.
