George Washington Sears grew up in Massachusetts where a young Narragansett man named Nessmuk taught him hunting, fishing and camping skills. In 1880, George, under the pen name “Nessmuk,” wrote letters to Forest and Stream magazine. This Adirondack story is part of “Adirondack Stories, Historical Sketches I” and “Adirondack Stories II, 101 More Historical Sketches (out of print),” a collection of 251 illustrated panels written by Marty Podskoch and illustrated by Sam Glanzman.
