The unfortunate reality is that while game workers pour their hearts and souls into their projects, creating thrilling narratives and astonishingly beautiful worlds for us to spend countless hours exploring, many of these game workers are forced to deal with a severe lack of job security. Luckily, indie developers are banding together to raise money for the Game Worker Hardship Fund, with an Itch.io game bundle including 127 games that you can buy for just $10. These layoffs leave game workers scrambling to find new jobs and dipping into their savings to cover rent, groceries, and medical bills. Necrosoft Games, who organized the Game Industry Hardship Fund bundle, paints a pretty grim picture of what it's like to be a game worker right now: "The game industry has a problem. It's hard for companies to adjust to the new shape of the game industry, but even harder for the people they should be employing."
